"I feel it captures who I am as a man and as an artist in this moment,"

Tyler Arnold, President of Mercury Records, shared that Malone initially wanted to make an acoustic album, although "this is definitely the farthest thing from being an acoustic album," he shared. His manager, Dre London, noted that Post Malone "wanted to go back to his roots and just make music".
